Season so far

GWS Giants 13th â€“ 91.9% | 668 points for | 727 points against| 3 wins & 5 losses | LWLWL

Once again, the Giants put up a good fight against a good side but just couldn’t get over the line, going down by 15 to the Dogs in Canberra.

Tom Green continues to elevate himself as an elite midfielder, finishing with 38 touches and 3 goals in an enormous match back in his hometown.

While the Giants continue to be competitive in every match, they currently sit at 3-5 and with an incredibly tough three weeks coming up (Collingwood, St Kilda and Geelong), they are going to need to start beating some of the best to stay within reach of the top 8.

Collingwood Magpies 1st â€“ 121.2% | 702 points for | 579 points against | 7 wins & 1 loss | WWWWL

The Pies just continue to respond to every challenge thrown at them and were too good for the Swans last week.

Sydney threw a lot at the Pies for three quarters, but as they do so often, Collingwood overpowered their opponents with a powerful final quarter.

They are a formidable team to face at any ground, but in front of the Magpie army at the MCG, they are nearly unbeatable right now.

Last 5 meetings and MCG History

The Giants have a good recent record over the Pies having won six of the last eight clashes

Collingwood won the only meeting last year in an entertaining affair. The Pies dominated most of the match and led by 37 points at three quarter time before the Giants kicked seven of the last nine goals to set up a grandstand finish.

These two sides have played at the MCG seven times with Collingwood holding a 4-3 advantage.

The most famous clash between them at the G was the 2019 Preliminary Final that GWS won by 4 points in a major upset.

Pre-match predictions

King of the Hill: Ian ‘Bobby’ Hill to kick three goals against his old side. Magpies by 26.
