31-year-old woman charged for supplying meth to prisoner at Alexander Maconochie Centre

A 31-year-old woman will face the ACT Magistrates Court today, 29 April, charged with a number of offences including supply drug of dependance.

About 1.00pm Sunday 17 April 2022, the woman attended the Alexander Maconochie Centre to visit a prisoner. Police will allege that while the woman was in the visitor reception area she passed the man a small package.

A short time later the prisoner was searched and the package was located along with other items believed to be prohibited.

A presumptive analysis of a number of items seized that contained powdered substances indicated the presence of methamphetamine.

Yesterday, 28 April, the woman was arrested and conveyed to the ACT Watch House where she was remanded overnight to appear in the ACT Magistrates Court today. She has been charged with trafficking a controlled drug namely methamphetamine and other unrelated offences.
