427,000 people enjoy Floriade 2022 despite wet weather

Floriade, Australiaโ€™s Biggest Celebration of Spring, attracted more than 427,000 people for its first year back in Canberra’s Commonwealth Park after a two-year hiatus.ย

This yearโ€™s theme was the Sounds of Spring. Visitors from around Australia and overseas enjoyed more than a million blooms set amongst music, entertainment, and horticultural installations.

From 17 September to 16 October, Floriade welcomed 427,768 visitors to Commonwealth Park, ranking in the top ten attendance figures in the eventโ€™s 35-year history.

NightFest also returned with a refreshed new format. Attendance was strong; two of the four nights sold out. Highlights included free massages and chilled out sounds on theย Unwindย nights, and exciting acts like Muesli, 19-Twenty, Super Massive, and Los Chavos on theย Invigorateย nights.ย

Floriade attracted interstate and international visitors, and showcased some of the best products from the region, including Canberra District Wines, Capital Brewing Co., Underground Spirits Clink! Gin Garden, and Agostinis, which joined this yearโ€™s range of local food vendors and market stalls.ย

Preparations are already underway for Floriade 2023, which will return to Commonwealth Park from Saturday 16 September to Sunday 15 October 2023.ย Its theme,ย Floral Wonderland, is designed to create a sense of wonder and enchantment through an immersive experience. The ACT Government hopes for better weather next year and a new attendance record.
