A further $140k for Homes for Homes initiative

The developer of Molonglo Valley suburb, Denman Prospect, has donated a further $140,000 to social enterprise, Homes for Homes.

Capital Airport Group donates 0.1% of all land sales in Denman Prospect to the social enterprise, and Denman Prospect’s director of project delivery, Nick McDonald Crowley, says they are pleased to give back to the community with every sale made in the new suburb.

He says a donation to the social enterprise is included in the title for every property in the suburb: “This means every time a property is sold, a 0.1% of the sale price donation will go to Homes For Homes,” he says.

“This also applies to the builders developing multi-unit sites in Denman Prospect. They will make the 0.1% donation to Homes for Homes every time they sell a dwelling in their development.”

The Canberra Raiders, Capital Airport Group’s community partner, have also donated $100 for every point scored at a home game since 2016, resulting in an additional $100,000 to the social enterprise during that time.

Mr McDonald Crowley says the money donated so far has been used to support Havelock Housing Association to purchase and manage a property for women aged over 55, and Community Housing Canberra to develop and manage a new group home.

“Already we’ve been able to grant $500,000 towards two projects that will see seven people housed in the ACT due to the support from members of the community like Capital Airport Group,” says Homes for Homes CEO, Steven Persson.

“The donation from Denman Prospect will go directly toward increasing the supply of social and affordable housing in the ACT. Capital Airport Group and the community of homeowners in Denman Prospect have come together … and have played a major role in alleviating homelessness.”

Since the development of Denman Prospect began in 2015, Capital Airport Group has donated almost $400,000 to the social enterprise. Denman Prospect is expected to eventually be home to over 4,000 dwellings, with a forecast of more than $1.5 million to be donated over the life of the project.
