All Goodwin retirement villages are now ARVAS accredited

Goodwin Village The Manor at Batemans Bay NSW has been recognised for its continuing dedication to enhancing quality by receiving accreditation from the Australian Retirement Village Accreditation Scheme (ARVAS). With this latest achievement, all Goodwin retirement villages, which are located in the ACT and Batemans Bay, are now ARVAS accredited.

According to Erik Boddeus, Goodwin’s Executive Manager Retirement Living, Property and Development, the accreditation serves as formal recognition of Goodwin Village The Manor’s continuing commitment to quality improvements, implementation of effective systems, processes and team work. This highlights Goodwin Retirement Living’s proactive stance on going above and beyond to deliver high quality service to residents.

ARVAS is co-owned by the Property Council of Australia and Aged and Community Care Providers Association (ACCPA) and is independently operated on their behalf by Quality Innovation Performance (QIP), a comprehensive Australian not-for-profit accreditation organisation.

According to QIP Chairman, Gary Smith, “accreditation is a major achievement and a clear demonstration that Goodwin Aged Care Services is committed to providing their residents with a high-quality living environment”.

“Accreditation is more than a compliance-based program,” Mr Smith said. “It recognises strengths and areas for improvement, which helps retirement villages to identify key quality improvement priorities. This should be commended, and QIP congratulates Goodwin Village The Manor on reaching this national benchmark.”

Becoming accredited against the ARVAS Standards involved a thorough and wide-ranging review of the retirement village across multiple areas, including governance, communication, corporate systems, quality of service delivery, environment, team work and relationship management. In order to demonstrate and achieve accreditation against the ARVAS Standards, Goodwin undertook an internal self-assessment, followed by an external assessment conducted by an experienced, external QIP Assessment Team.

“The Manor’s achievement of accreditation was a result of excellent cooperation, commitment and communication amongst the Goodwin residents and the team,” Mr Boddeus said.

“Many Goodwin staff played a valuable role in ensuring we met the Standards. Achieving accreditation across all Goodwin retirement villages is a well-deserved accomplishment, and
reassures our residents of the high standards we adhere to.”

He said Goodwin villages take pride in displaying the QIP accredited symbol.
