Banks teen on good behaviour orders commits aggravated robbery

Just one month after being released from custody, an 18-year-old man has been arrested after police allege he committed an aggravated robbery, trespassed on a Kaleen residence, and breached numerous good behaviour orders.

About 9pm on Monday 15 August, two men entered a liquor store in Wanniassa, with one brandishing a large knife and demanding cash and alcohol.

The men, who were wearing face coverings, went behind the counter, made personal threats to the shopkeeper and took cash directly from the register. The men also allegedly took 17 packs of cigarettes and 11 bottles of alcohol.

The two men fled on foot, taking more than $1,600 worth of goods with them.

About 11m on 17 August 2022, a resident in Kaleen reported to police that he had successfully deterred an armed duo trespassing on his premises.

Following extensive investigations, ACT Policing officers executed a search warrant at the 18-year-old’s residence in Banks yesterday, Wednesday 7 September, where he was subsequently arrested.

He is set to face the ACT Magistrates Court today, Thursday 8 September, charged with aggravated robbery, going equipped with an offensive weapon for theft, unlawful trespass on premises, and breach of good behaviour obligations.

The man had only been released from custody on 8 August 2022 and was on 10 sets of good behaviour orders when these offences were allegedly committed.
