A Canberra man has admitted he spent yesterday screening phone calls from the Lott, assuming it was a telemarketer, not news of a million-dollar Wednesday Lotto win.
The ACT player held the only division one winning entry nationally in Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw 4005, drawn Wednesday 2 September, and takes home a division one prize of $1 million.
In his state of shock, the winning man initially dismissed the million-dollar news, but later revealed he planned to use his prize to retire years earlier than heโd imagined.
Confirming his win with an official from the Lott this afternoon (Friday 4 September), the winner explained he was blown away by the news.

โIs this fair dinkum?โ he said. โThis is crazy. Wow!
ย
โIโve been looking at this on my app and thinking this was rubbish.โ
When asked how he thought he might enjoy his million-dollar windfall, the loving dad had one particular thing in mind.
ย
โIโve got children and grandchildren, and they are the first people who came to mind, so I definitely want to be able to help them,โ he said.
ย
โThis is just fantastic; it means I will be able to retire early.
ย
โIโll have to do my sums and work out how I can really step back from work and take it easy!
ย
โI know itโs really hard to travel at the moment, but weโd love to go back to Europe one day.
ย
โI canโt wait to tell my partner. She is going to freak out!โ
