Drone delivery service launches in North Canberra

On Tuesday 9 April, Wing, a subsidiary of Alphabet, launched their drone delivery service in Gungahlin with an initial trial available to 100 homes in Crace, Palmerston and Franklin.

The service allows customers to order a range of food items and over-the-counter chemist items on their mobile app, and have them delivered directly to their homes by drone (pictured).

Wing expects to expand to more customers in Harrison and Gungahlin in the coming weeks and months.

Their initial launch partners will include: Kickstart Expresso, Capital Chemist, Pure Gelato, Jasper + Myrtle, Bakers Delight, Guzman Y Gomez, and Drummond Golf.

The launch comes on the back of Wing’s development application to refurbish a warehouse space in Mitchell being approved by the ACT Planning and Land Authority in March.

Wing conducted ACT Government sanctioned trials of their drone delivery service in South Canberra from September 2017 to February 2019.

Local residents can see if they’re eligible for their service and stay updated on the latest delivery areas at wing.com/australia/canberra
