Happy World Gin Day, Canberra! Whether you’re a fan of the classics – a G & T, a martini – or you like something with a little more flair – a negroni, perhaps – Canberra’s vibrant gin scene has something for everyone.

Here are five Canberra and region gins to celebrate this most important day.

Like the sound of two Canberra icons in one bottle? Give the Underground Spirits gin distilled for the Australian National Botanic Gardens a try – it’s distilled with native ingredients foraged from the Gardens themselves.

What better way to warm up this weekend than with The Canberra Distillery’s winter gin? Or, if you prefer, they make a gin specifically for negronis, too …

A small batch operation working out of the Dairy Road precinct, Big River Distilling Co’s Canberra dry gin promises a classic London dry style with the ‘assistance’ of some Aussie botanicals.

Wild Brumby

A little further afield, Jindabyne’s Wild Brumby schnapps distillery makes a mean gin, too. If you’re heading to the slopes (or to après) this season, be sure to pay them a visit!

Wild Brumby rubus patch gin, $80; shop online here.

Four Winds Vineyard

What’s better than a locally made gin? A locally made gin that was originally meant to be wine! Four Winds Vineyard in Murrumbateman turned their smoke-tainted grapes into a Riesling gin – we love ingenuity that tastes this good.

Four Winds Vineyard Riesling gin, $85; find stockists here.
