The ACT Government has announced $376, 251 worth of funding towards 21 projects preserving and promoting the Territoryโs history.
The annual ACT Heritage Grants Program 2020-2021 has released the names of 21 projects and/or organisations that will receive funding, including conservation works on St Johnโs Anglican Church stained glass windows and sign restoration in the Yarralumla Heritage Precinct.
ACT Environment and Heritage Minister Mick Gentleman said the works came in a range of formats, across a large spread of the Canberra region.
โWe are providing grants to a wide range of projects to help support new tours, interpretive signage and the digitisation of our history. There are also projects that will conserve unique objects, street furniture, and private homes,โ he said.
“Projects include short films, development of a signage network in Lyneham to encourage pedestrians to take their own heritage walks, and conservation of the famed murals at the Free Serbian Orthodox Church in Forrest.”
Funding priorities for the program include conservation work for heritage places and objects, and community projects which encourage increased utilisation or engagement in heritage places.
The largest grant is a $35,860 commitment to the Wakefield Garden Housing Precinct, followed by $28,973 for Cuppacumbalong Homestead and $27,200 for Canberra Tracks.
Mr Gentlemen said each project would help to promote and preserve parts of Canberraโs history.

Previous projects funded through the ACT Heritage Grants Program include the Tidbinbilla Earth and Sky Moon Walk celebration, and the Yhurramuulan Murra Trail in Canberraโs Inner North.
