Narrabundahโs Goyder Street was blocked off this afternoon (Tuesday 3 November) as police investigate a drive-by shooting that took place about 2.40pm.
At that time, a vehicle approached a house before firing around five shots that struck the building and a vehicle parked outside.
ACT Policing Detective Inspector Matt Reynolds said there were two adults and a child inside the Narrabundah house at the time of the shooting, none of whom were injured by the attack.
โAt this early stage, we believe it is potentially a targeted attack on this household and we do not believe it is criminal gang related,โ he said.
Detective Inspector Reynolds said he believed the shooting was related to a โbusiness transactionโ, but โnot necessarily a recognised businessโ that they donโt believe is drug related.
โOur investigation so far, we believe the offender in this matter has cause to be aggrieved with the occupants,โ he said.
The occupants of the house are not known to police.
โWe do have a suspect in mind at this stage โฆ we are looking for anybody with CCTV or who may have witnessed a vehicle leaving the scene at around 2.40pm this afternoon.โ
With the AFP forensics team looking at the scene, early indications have led them to believe the attack was potentially conducted with a rifle, but thatโs still to be confirmed, and that there was either one or two offenders involved in the shooting.
Detective Inspector Matt Reynolds said it was important to recognise this was a targeted attack rather than a random incident.
โThere is no ongoing threat to the public โฆ Any firearm or any event like this is certainly a concern for the community, however I will say ACT residents should still feel safe, we live in the safest city in Australia.โ
No surrounding properties were damaged by the shooting.
