What’s on around Canberra this weekend, 12-14 May

Things are staying cool in the Canberra region this weekend, 12-14 May, and CW has just the list to help you stay warm and entertained.

Spoil Mum with a beautiful gift from the National Museum of Australiaโ€™s Tapestry of Cultures event on Saturday, or take her to meet prehistoric mamas at the National Dinosaur Museumโ€™s Motherโ€™s Day event on Sunday.

Stay warm at one of the incredible performances around town this weekend: The Q in Queanbeyan presents a slightly different wizarding world in Puffs; ACT Hub brings a story of support and love in Steel Magnolias; Canberra Theatre Centre tells a tale of mystery and murder in The Mousetrap; and Canberra Rep finish up their season of Crimes of the Heart.

Buddhist Vesak Alms Round: Male and Female Monastics from across Australia will be in a special Vesak โ€œalms roundโ€ near Canberra Times Fountain, City Walk by the Canberra Centre. Pop Up Party: The second in the series of 5 Friday night pop-up parties around the city happens at Glebe Park on 12 May 5-8.30pm. Enjoy free entertainment and activities including a 1.5-hour cabaret show, presented by Jazida Productions.

Tapestry of Cultures: Travel around the world without leaving Canberra at this family festival; explore the dance, live performances, music and food from countries near and far with market stalls and activities available throughout the day. High Tea and Tour: The National Dinosaur Museum invites locals to celebrate mums at their special Motherโ€™s Day event which includes a savoury and sweet buffet, an ode to Mum gallery tour, and special treat for Mum.
