Witnesses sought to city carjacking

ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to an alleged carjacking that in a Canberra Centre carpark on Monday night.  

About 5.50pm on Monday 24 July, a woman got into a white Toyota Corolla hatchback that was parked in a rooftop carpark attached to the Canberra Centre.  

Shortly after, a man allegedly opened the driver’s door and threatened the woman with a knife. The woman complied and the man got into the Corolla.   

The car then left the scene at speed before allegedly stopping to collect two women prior to exiting the carpark.  

Operation TORIC officers have arrested three people in relation to this matter, however witnesses to the incident are asked to come forward.  

Police would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have dash-cam footage of the white Toyota Corolla being driven erratically soon after 5.50pm on Monday night.  

The car had three letter ACT registration of NGO however these plates have since been recovered. The white Corolla remains outstanding and anyone with information about its location is urged to come forward.
